So late...

I’m so late to office today. Had this niggling feeling about being late and even though I’ve already told my manager I’ll be late I still have that contrite feeling inside me. I’ve always had this fear of being late in no matter what I do or where I go and I end up literally snapping at anyone who gets in my way. And it kinda ruin the rest of my day, till I somehow manage to get that I’m-so-guilty-cos-I’m-late feeling out of my system, which I never do. It’s always been the way that I’ve brought up, that it’s not good to make someone wait for you, let alone being late, a definite no-no. Also the feeling of being so harassed because you’re rushing to do everything and rushing will never do anyone good, whether you’re rushing on the road or rushing to do something, it always comes out with some sort of unpleasant result.

Does this sound familiar to you guys or most of you couldn’t care less if you’re late to office or to an appointment. I do wonder how some people can actually stroll into an office casually, without that harassed looking look, being all cool even though they are late. Tell me. How do you do it?! Well, I’ll admit the feeling of being late does bring an air of “superiority” to some, as most bosses come in late to office.

A colleague mentioned that some managers have a different mind set, where it’s alright to come in to office late since we’re “expected” to stay late while there are some exceptional managers who think it’s better to come in to office early and leave on time. Which kind of manager would you prefer to work with? Manager A, who condones coming in late or Manager B, who sticks to the rules to coming in on time? I guess as much that there will be a mixture of responses in picking which manager they prefer, especially those who love sleeping in a bit more would prefer Manager A while those who want to go back on time especially those with small children would rather prefer to have Manager B. But when I think of the jam that’s seems to have gotten worse year by year, I’d like to work with Manager A, probably for a while till I start my own family. So complicated, so many options. If only life could be easier.

You forgot poor ol' Manager C. He would be working from home because you would be working from home for a company that practices the office-less environment. I'm dreaming big time.

Giving a good first impression is what most people hope they could do. Afterall, if your life depends on it, you don't want to recollect memories of "if only".

Most managers that I know are not too sticky with reporting work on time unless there is an important meeting to be held at the same time.

If the company wants to keep records, they know they owe a number of people unpaid overtime pays for working late...:P

Cirnelle: Yea. That would be great. If only...

Anonymous: Talk about overtime, I haven't met a manager like mine who's so bloody stingy on paying overtime.

Zewt: Are you that kind of manager? If yes, I wouldn't mind working under you. haahhah!!!
